Merlot Food MatchThe ripe dark berry fruit flavourings, along with the black plum accents in this wine combine with hints of leather and liquorice to present a wonderful bouquet. This is followed by a full palate with ripe tannins. This Merlot is a lovely match to many red meat dishes, including game meats. It is delicious served with rare roast ribeye, accompanied by marinated char roasted vegetables. It’s best served at room temperature.Pinot Noir Food MatchThis Pinot Noir has a bouquet of sweet berry fruit, and cherries. With notes of earthy forest floor and mushrooms, the palate is elegantly well balanced with fine tannins and boasts a lingering finish. This is delicious when served with many red meat dishes, and is particularly good with duck or a rich mushroom risotto. The flavours in this wine develop beautifully in the wineglass.Chardonnay Food MatchThis delicious richly flavoured wine is perfect with rich seafood – think crayfish or lobster with citrus mayo!  Or a personal favourite is fresh scallops pan fried with butter and freshly crushed garlic. If seafood is not your thing then pair this Chardonnay with roasted chicken fillet (skin on) marinated in passionfruit, lemon zest and a splash of olive oil and a good grind of salt & pepper.

Ataahua Waipara Pinot Noir 2019 93pts (5 stars)
Gorgeously fruited and perfumed, the inviting bouquet shows dark plum, dark cherry, violet, almond and dried herb notes, leading to a finely textured palate delivering excellent fruit purity together with refined mouthfeel and silky tannins. Beautifully composed and expressed. At its best: now to 2026.

Ataahua Waipara Merlot 2019 90 pts (4.5 stars)
Offering fabulous ripe fruit notes of Black Doris plum and blackberry combined with nuances of dried herb, mixed spice and roasted nut, the wine displays excellent weight and roundness, backed by silky mouthfeel and polished tannins. Flavoursome and balanced with a lingering succulent finish. At its best: now to 2025. Sam Kim Ataahua Waipara Chardonnay 2018 90 pts (4.5 stars) This distinctive, pale gold wine was fermented with indigenous yeasts in seasoned oak barrels. A ‘full-on’ style, it is weighty and sweet-fruited, with strong, ripe stonefruit flavours, vaguely honeyed notes, fresh acidity, and lots of appeal. Michael Cooper – Winestate Magazine
